Top 5 Ways to Incorporate Signage into your Wedding

Scrolling Pinterest you’ll find hundreds of inspiration photos of event signage. On top of that, there are dozens of different mediums you could use. It’s easy to get lost in the scroll and feel overwhelmed. I’ve gathered my top 5 types of signs I like seeing at wedding.

5. The Welcome Sign. I can’t get enough of a strong welcome station. It greets your guests and can help set the tone for your event. Think of it like a sneak peek of what’s to come as they enter you venue. We offer a beautiful hand painted Welcome sign from my dear friend Rachael at Lookswise. She has custom option too which can include date or family name! What I love about the idea of a custom welcome sign is that you could totally supply your guests with sharpies or paint pens and have them sign it upon arrival as a sweet alternative to a traditional guest book.

4. Menu Board. Okay, so I know when we attend a wedding we’re there to celebrate the love of two people who are near and dear to us. But lets be honest, one of the best parts of the wedding is the food. Am I right? Instead of spending a fortune on getting individual menus printed for the place setting, consider a sign with your delicious menu written out. An oversized chalkboard, vintage window, or beautiful mirror would inform your guests of what they’re about to eat and get their mouths watering. Check with your caterer, they might even offer signage with your package which is one less thing you have to worry about!

3. Chair Signs. So these maybe aren’t all that practical but more so for the cute photo ops. I’ve seen some really cute versions from the classic “Mr & Mrs”  “Bride Groom” and “Better Together” Or get cheeky and go with a “Mr Right” and “Mrs. Always Right” sign which is a guaranteed smile.

2. Hashtag Sign. I wish I were clever enough to come up with one of those super smart hashtags for my events. #SamsNiftySixty was probably the best I could come up with for my dad’s 60th birthday but even that was result of a quick google search. But what I love about using hashtags to commemorate an event, especially a wedding, it allows to you get a glimpse of all those special little moments that you might have missed. It also helps you connect with new friends you may have met on the dance floor or in the Photo Booth. Selfie!

And my favorite type of sign to incorporate into your wedding decor…

1. Bar Signs! Are you surprised? You could treat the bar sign as a menu, indicate simply the location of the bar, but I think my new favorite trend I’m seeing are the signature drink options for both him and her. I love it even more on acrylic! I’ve seen on Instagram from hand letter artists I follow some amazing work. They even create a little doodle of the signature cocktail. CHEERS!

That wraps up my Top 5 list of signs I like to see at weddings. What are your favorites? Have you seen any cool or different types of signs at weddings you’ve been to this summer? Leave me a comment below!

The Americana Collection!

Alright! What a busy couple weeks. The site has been up and running and things are slowly chugging away here at Kingsley. Figuring out inventory software, adding last bit of inventory to the site, and maybe a little more shopping. It’s just so much fun!

I’m still continuing to meet other local business owners and building new relationships while I try to figure out the events industry! Last week I had the opportunity to participate in a few styled shoots featuring local Hood River Event Coordinator Strucksured Events and Wedding Florist Molly Ryan Floral, and a great photographer based out of Portland, Katie Dessin. We shot at the Leach Gardens in Portland and Gorge Crest in Underwood, WA which has AMAZING views of Mt. Hood. Boda’s Kitchen Catering Team was there too with a delicious and gorgeous spread of local fruits, cheeses, and wines. Be sure to check out their Instagram pages for pictures of the shoot!

Onto the big news! This week I’ll be launching our very first retail collection! Inspired by the 4th of July backyard bar-b-qs, the Americana Collection features baking cups, ice cream cups, food liners, and take away boxes! I’m super excited to share fun and curated collections of party supplies that can really help an enhance an event.

The collection is available now in the Party Shop!  Let me know what you think and what other types of collections you’d like to see!

HELLO, Hood River!

I’m so excited! Kingsley had it’s very first booking and some of my favorite pieces made their debut and I don’t think it could have been for a better occasion. A few weeks ago Kristen, who I met at the Hood River chapter of the Rising Tide Society, asked me about participating in an event she was planning for the Dalles Chamber and Travel Oregon. I was so thrilled I could hardly stand it!

Kristen is the principal coordinator of Rooted Event Co based out of The Dalles, Oregon. She plans these amazing farm to table dinners using great locally sourced ingredients! More importantly, her passion and purpose is all about community and bringing people together!

With temperatures increasing she was able to use the gorgeous patio at the Riv-Cafe in the Dalles. I’m absolutely obsessed with that space! It was the perfect backdrop for an alfresco dining experience.

The color palette Kristen pulled together was amazing. Mixing neutrals with mustard yellow and using some wildflowers to fill our Vintage Ambler Goblet Vases. Our Small Wooden Crates worked perfectly adding some height and dimension to the table but using them to place her crisp white platters on. It seemed appropriate that our Golden Apricot Vintage Wood Box made it’s debut as it’s originally from The Dalles!

Check out some of the pictures of the event taken by the talented Kathy of Kathy Pothier Photography  (another Rising Tide Hood River friend!)

I’m so grateful to have been included in such a wonderful evening and look forward to working with these awesome ladies again!

Welcome

I’m so happy to welcome you to Kingsley! This has been such a long and exciting journey launching my own and new business. Hosting friends and family in my home always brings me so much joy as well as designing and creating events. From that place in my heart (and a big collection of decor and entertaining pieces) Kingsley was born!

I was born here in Hood River, but moved around a lot growing up. Hood River has always felt like home to me, spending summers on my Grandparent’s farm, and enjoying holidays and family functions. I moved back a few years ago to be closer to family and a longing for the sense of community. My time back has been amazing, and most recently I’ve enjoyed connecting with other local business owners in the Gorge and appreciate all of their encouragement and support!

I’m so excited to share my favorite pieces that I hope will have your guests “ooooo and ahhhh!”

Thank you for checking things out and feel free to follow along my journey in this new endeavor on Instagram and Facebook, or you can send me an email here!
